Geothermal Energy Potential

There is a specific temperature which plants need for their development. As such, heating in greenhouses is very important and it has high costs. Geothermal energy is very significant for reducing costs in regions where it is not possible to heat greenhouses by using traditional methods due to climatic changes.

Therefore, it is necessary to utilize geothermal energy, which is clean and renewable, in the right places and in an effective way. We reduce our carbon footprint (carbon emissions) inasmuch as we use geothermal energy which is a renewable and clean energy source in lieu of using fossil fuels in heating.

We safeguard our environment and future by using green energy while we grow healthy products at the same time. We, as Turkeli, use the geothermal energy potential correctly and make more efficient production with less cost inasmuch as Bergama district of İzmir province is a region with very high geothermal energy potential.

Qualified manpower in the field of agriculture

It is difficult and expensive to find manpower in the field of agriculture in large cities. BERGAMA district of İzmir province can be considered as a lucky region in this sense. Bergama is a town of agriculture. Bakırçay Basin, which is also in this region, is a very significant area for agriculture. As such, the people who live in all these regions are also very interested in agriculture while they have high ability and hand skills.

We feel very lucky of being able to recruit people who are interested in agriculture and who enjoy to serve the land and who have high ability for agriculture. We have been employing 550 people who love land and agriculture in our continuously growing business since 2002 and our target is to increase this number by virtue of our new investments.

We support modernization in agriculture!

This is because to produce in line with modern agriculture denotes using land in the most efficient way. Using our land in the most efficient way means optimizing agriculture with the latest technology without wasting any of the materials utilized. As such, we believe that the more we support and credit modernization in agriculture in Turkey, the more we will receive the high agricultural value we deserve accordingly.

There are approximately 320,000 decares of greenhouses in Turkey. 20.000 decares of these greenhouses are operated by modern producers such as Turkeli. 300.000 decares are known as production under protective cover. All of the modern greenhouses use technology at every stage of production, are controlled, supervised and meet all the standards required through modern agriculture. These greenhouses are projected to be resistant to wind, storm, rainfall, and earthquakes. As Turkeli, we have reached a closed area production of 600 decares over the years with the innovations and investments we made in the field of agriculture.

TURKELI GREENHOUSE

We use the Closed Irrigation Method and save money by this method.

As “Turkeli Seracılık (Turkeli Greenhouse)”, we use closed irrigation method in our greenhouses. After the plants receive enough water to meet their needs we remove bacteria and viruses from the water with high and strong ultraviolet rays in the closed irrigation method.

We send the purified water for analysis, and after confirmation, we store the water in a separate place and use it again in watering following the analysis. In this way we are saving on fertilizers, energy and most importantly water in big amounts.
